Are you in the Know?

If you appreciate quality live music then you can be guaranteed the Maritime Jazz Festival has plenty of that.  However, if you are new to jazz you may not recognise all these famous artists and what they play.  Have a look below to help make your mind up which performance to come to.  And if you still can't make your mind up then just come to all the performances!!

Who is Tina May?

Tina is considered to be one of the best vocalists in Europe in both presentation and style.  She began life working in TV with her now long term friend and colleague Rory Bremner.  She soon moved on to working with bands such as the BBC Big Band.  She has also one serveral jazz awards and has continued her TV presenting skills doing jazz programmes for BBC4 TV.

What will the music be like?

Other than the obligatory CD quality standard, Tina is engaging and entertaining, singing a variety of easy listening and jazz standards, which is perfect served alongside Italian Food.  Equally at ease singing in English or French she will deliver the music effortlessly as a great opener to the festival. 

What about the rest of the band? 

All the musicians at the festival are seasoned professionals and often famous musicians in their own right.  Tina will be backed by french Pianist James Hayes who's music sells as far away as Japan, bass player Neil Francis who has released classical-jazz albums on the BBC label, and vibes player Roan Kearsey-Lawson who was quoted by the Albert Hall and Octavate Jazz Club in London as 'Master Vibesman'.
